Through oil painting, I intend to convey my thoughts, feelings and reactions to our world. This includes reverence and respect for the natural world. At times spontaneous emotional reaction to a place or time of day is the impetus to paint; other times poetry or music inspires; connecting with image stored in memory. Joy inspires; joy in the idea, joy in the process, joy in the media, joy in the challenge of getting it right, plus joy in sharing it with others. There is joy in finding whats lovely in a world that isnt always lovely. Landscape intrigues me as an art form. Due to its variety of color, texture, shape, light and sound from season to season, landscape is a source of constant inspiration. This awareness is stimulated by a deep connection I feel with the outdoors. Landscape painting is a means of preserving and highlighting what we are rapidly losing in a rapidly changing culture.
